DeKalb Release Mugshot Records

A mugshot is a standardized photograph made during booking. Tennessee law at TCA §8-4-115 supports the creation of standardized booking photographs, and the sheriff's retention schedule treats photos and fingerprints as identification records. Release does not turn that image into a current portrait. It remains tied to the arrest and booking that produced it.

The photograph establishes that an agency created a booking-era identity record. It does not establish guilt, conviction, the legal reason for release, or present custody. DeKalb's local source can place a booking image beside an intake entry and, when completed before printing, a Release Date/Time. Those fields should be read together and dated. A photo with a blank release field cannot answer whether the person was released later.

Question: Does a photo prove someone was released? No. A dated release field or agency release record establishes that event. The image identifies a booking, while custody and case outcome require separate sources.

DeKalb Weekly Release Mugshots

The strongest local discovery channel is the sheriff-generated Intake Press Release With Image. It is distributed through Smithville Review and related newspaper infrastructure rather than through a searchable sheriff roster. Sampled reports cover roughly one week, sometimes eight days at a print boundary. No guaranteed publication day or online archive duration was found.

A report can include the image, name, intake and release times, bond, agency, arrest context, charges, and court date. Avoid repeating an address, date of birth, or other personal field when it is not needed to distinguish the record. The release timestamp and source date are the key details for a released-photo inquiry.

The weekly PDF is not a live roster and not a complete release feed. People with a populated Release Date/Time can remain visible after they left. A blank field means the release was not shown at that print time, not that the person remains jailed today. If the report is stale or missing, call the sheriff and request the retained photo and release entry.

No Tennessee DeKalb County sheriff app was verified in the official navigation, vendor sweep, or app-store search. Results for a feature-rich DeKalb app or a different release window can belong to DeKalb counties in other states. Those rosters and photos do not apply to the jail in Smithville, Tennessee.

Under TCA §10-7-503, records should be provided promptly. If prompt production is not possible, the custodian has seven business days to produce the record, deny it in writing with the basis, or state the production time. Tennessee citizenship or proof may be required. The custodian applies current exemptions, redactions, and local policy.

How Long DeKalb Photos Remain

Online availability can be brief even when agency retention is long. The CTAS schedule calls for inmate census and booking logs to be kept five years. Identification files containing photographs and fingerprints remain until death or presumed death at one hundred years after birth. These periods concern agency records, not a promise that a newspaper PDF or web link will stay public for that long.

TDOC DeKalb Release Photos

TDOC FOIL may include an offender photograph for a person currently or formerly in state felony custody or supervision. It is not a county booking-photo system and does not cover a county-only detention with no TDOC connection. Search by name, TDOC ID, or SID, match identity details, and read the exact status and release fields shown.

The state image belongs to the TDOC record and may differ from the DeKalb County booking photo. FOIL also warns that its information may not be accurate, timely, or complete. When the photo or discharge document is no longer online, TDOC's archived-record request accepts a detailed request and provides a fee quote after the archive search.

DeKalb Registry Release Photos

The TBI Sex Offender Registry can show a photograph linked to Full Details. Search fields include name or partial name, alias, location, offender ID, status, and offense. This is an offense-defined source, not a broad DeKalb County release list. A registry match can remain relevant after release, but registry presence does not prove that all custody or a sentence ended. The registry can also include incarcerated people.

TBI describes daily updates but directs corrections to the reporting agency. The Drug Offender Registry is likewise offense-limited. Neither registry replaces a county jail release sheet, FOIL discharge record, or court disposition.
